A new year

The harvest was poor and so we put the allotment to bed. Then just this week we dug in 300 litres of well rotted horse manure and started planning what to plant.

Early potatoes and shallotts will be planted this week. After that, the whole wonderful dig and sow cycle starts again.

One tip if you are an organic gardener is to let the owners of the allotments around yours aware of that fact. We arrived just in time to stop a helpful neighbour from spraying a systemic weedkiller on our patch 'because I had some left and it will save you a job'.
